A convicted Onslow County rapist serving 14 years was sentenced today for another sex offense he committed in 2002.
A New Hanover County Superior Court judge sentenced Troy D. Simmons to a maximum of 56 years behind bars without the possibility of parole.
The 56 years is on top of the time Simmons is already serving.
