Around a million people in North Carolina who are fully covered by Blue Cross / Blue Shield, may qualify to get generic drugs at no additional out-of-pocket cost for the at least the next six months.

According to a survey conducted by marketing firm Bigresearch, consumers spent an average of $373 in stores and online over the Thanksgiving weekend. That's up seven percent from last year, and an estimated $41 billion in total spending.

Denise Malpass shares more than a name with the school; her son is a first grader at the closed facility. She says the school closing has been terrible timing. "You got to get a baby sitter for the kids, it's an extra kid and it's right around the holidays."

If you are thinking about buying something with a little extra glitter as a present this year, chances are you are also looking for a few more hours at work. But as News Channel 3 found out, many people are happy to get any hours at all.
