More than eight months ago Columbus County Animal Cruelty investigators confiscated eight horses after finding signs of neglect and abuse. A couple of weeks ago investigators had to return the horses to their owner.

Wallace Police received some sad news today about one of their own. Wallace Police Det. Emanuel Pickett was serving in Iraq with the National Guard. He was killed there Sunday.

Former Rep. Wright guilty, sentenced to up to 8 years in prison

Former Rep. Thomas Wright has been sentenced between roughly six and eight years in prison after a jury found him guilty of fraud. The crimes are nearly identical to those that led his colleagues in the House to kick him out of office.
