Bladen and Columbus County school kids may learn to read at an even earlier age, thanks to a federal grant.
The school systems in the two counties have received a joint Early Reading First grant worth $4.3 million.

We first met Aunt Sarah Sledge back in July. At age 93, she was still working at the Ambassador Camp at Lake Waccamaw, which she started back in 1957.

The Winston-Salem Journal reported that the Administrative Office of the Courts has resumed $400-a-day payments to emergency judges after they stopped several weeks ago due to budget cutbacks.
