Employees of Pender Memorial Hospital are being recognized for their hard work and years of dedicated service.
Ms. Esther Walker just received a plaque commemorating 40 years with Pender Memorial. She began working as a nurse’s assistant in 1969.

State lawmakers have moved one step closer to changing the start times for schools in North Carolina.
Legislation just passed the House that would allow districts to start the academic year two weeks earlier, as early as August 8th.

While many residents in Monkey Junction fought involuntary annexation, the thought of being annexed actually appeals to some people. An area developer wants to be annexed by the city of Wilmington.

A Wilmington woman is behind bars tonight after running a stop sign, and crashing into an ambulance.
According to police, Lashanna Fennell was driving across 14th Street, and failed to stop at the intersection of Wooster and 14th.
She drove into the side of a Bladen County ambulance.

It looks like Brunswick County is planning on some serious belt tightening next year.
Last night, County Manager Marty Lawing proposed a budget to county commissioners that is more than ten percent smaller than last year's.
