Willy freed after recuperating

videoSea turtles are often in the news in this area, but one particular reptile has made headlines from here to England. Willaminia, or Willy as she's called, has been at the Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center in North Topsail where she has been recuperating since April.

Eaton Elementary turns into wax museum

videoWith only two days left before summer vacation, kids at Eaton Elementary were showing off before the year is up. Students in Ms. Abernathe's third grade class dressed up as famous historic figures and created a “wax museum” of their own on Wednesday.

State Senate approves new district map

The N.C. Senate gave final approval today to a redrawing of districts in New Hanover and Pender counties. The House approved the plan last month.

Three confirmed dead after Slim Jim plant explosion

Three people are now confirmed dead after yesterday's explosion in a factory that produces Slim Jims in Garner, NC. Officials say 300 workers were in the plant when the blast occurred at ConAgra Foods just east of Raleigh.
