Whitey's El Berta Motor Inn has been part of the Market Street landscape for 55 years, however it'll be torn down to make way for other commercial development.

Gas taxes in the Tar Heel state are one step closer to climbing rather than dropping. Wednesday, the House Finance Committee voted to making the current gas tax limit of 29.9 cents per gallon the minimum.
