Carolina and Kure Beach fire departments responded to the 200 block of Carolina Ave. at about 1:30 Monday afternoon.

Two people are still missing in an explosion at a meat products plant in Garner.
An apparent explosion and roof collapse at ConAgra Food, Inc. plant near Raleigh sent around twenty people to the hospital; mostly suffering from burns and smoke inhalation. At least five of them were seriously hurt.
