All the rain is wreaking havoc on Brunswick County roads. Gray Bridge Road usually goes over the Shallotte River, but thanks to the rain and flooding the road is now underneath, which forced most drivers to find some way around.

The amount of water falling on southeastern North Carolina is making an impact in a lot of places. Along the Wilmington riverfront, the rain continues to fall, the river continues to rise, and all of this water made one of Wilmington's premier tourist attractions shut down early.

The Red Cross has closed shelters it set up at schools in New Hanover and Brunswick Counties yesterday, but it has opened new shelters today.

Historically, Lake Park Blvd. on Carolina Beach is one of the first roads to become impassable during torrential downpours. This week's rain certainly fits the bill for monumental flooding at the lake at Carolina Beach.

In the election for North Carolina’s open 8th Senate District seat, Republican Bill Rabon has expanded his lead over Democratic challenger David Redwine to nineteen percentage points, a four point increase since May, according to a new SurveyUSA poll released today by the Civitas Institute.
