video Kevin Murphy has been picking up trash in the Cape Fear area for years. He's a fifth grade teacher at St. Mary's and the director of the non-profit organization, Ocean Cure. Three years ago, he decided to start the "90 Days to Earth Day" challenge.

Wilmington's Jay Ross is headed to Super Bowl in rookie season with Green Bay

Jay Ross was a defensive standout at New Hanover High School and East Carolina. The defensive tackle is now headed to the Super Bowl.

UNCW women's basketball team wins again to remain in first place tie in CAA

Cynthia Cooper-Dyke's team continues to be the talk of the CAA. They won again Sunday afternoon scoring a season high 85 points. The next three games for the UNCW women's basketball team will all be home games at Trask Coliseum.

NE Coastal roads still icy after half-foot of snow

The heaviest amounts from Saturday's storm came along the beaches north of Wilmington and the Outer Banks. Seven inches of snow fell at Atlantic Beach and Emerald Isle, while 6 inches of snow was reported along the Outer Banks south of Oregon Inlet.

FIRST ON 3: Roommate slashed with machete

The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim had been in an argument with roommates, and one of the other men grabbed a machete and hit the victim on the head.

FIRST ON 3: Downtown Violence - Homeless man stabbed Saturday night

Witnesses reported that the victim had been panhandling near 20 N. Front Street, and that he became involved in an altercation within an hour before he was found stabbed.
