State and local law enforcement officers cited 758 motorists for driving while impaired during the "Booze It & Lose It' Halloween campaign, which ran Oct. 28-31. Brunswick County led the way in our five-county area with 38 DWI arrests. New Hanover was second regionally with 18.

A former high school football star is in trouble with the law once again. Records show Wilimington Police booked Shawn Sidbury into the New Hanover County Jail yesterday. He is charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and first degree burglary.

The Brunswick County Sheriff's Office placed West Brunswick High School on lockdown for a brief time early this morning. A school district spokeswoman says deputies did a security sweep based on a Facebook posting about a threat at the school.

At least one man was injured last night in a shooting in the 700 block of 6th Street in downtown Wilmington. Police responded to the call at about 10:15 p.m. near the intersection of Campbell and 6th Street.
