Commissioners voted 3-2 to table a vote on purchasing the property that houses Break Time and Ten Pin Alley in Wilmington. The property is a part of the same shopping center as the county's government complex.

The Azalea Festival committee unveiled the 2012 festival art piece Monday night and it was very well received. Artist Terry Sellers Harrison said she wanted to capture a sense of play and a more contemporary idea for now and the future.

A jury ruled that Dr. Conrad Murray is guilty of involuntary manslaughter in the death of Michael Jackson.

Andy Wood looks at his snails and can't help thinking they're his own California condors or Bengal tigers.
Wood may be the only reason the magnificent ramshorn snail is not extinct.
The snail, which once called freshwater beaver ponds and millponds home, hasn't been seen in the wild since 2005.

"Yesterday, about fifty of my political yard signs were stolen near the Landfall main gate and near Autumn Hall. Also, many other candidates' signs -- Padgett, Saffo, Anderson, etc. -- also vanished overnight in this area. At 4:30am today I went to check on my signs, and I noticed this theft. I have replaced many of them."
