It takes three days to complete the state wrestling tournament. For Topsail's Ric McCutcheon it's well worth the wait. He's a state champion... again !!

Black man claims police beat him after hostage situation at Cary bank

Officials in Cary have asked the Wake County District Attorney's office and the State Bureau of Investigation to look into a complaint that one of the hostages in a bank standoff was beaten, cursed and handcuffed by police as he emerged from the building after the siege ended.

FIRST ON 3 UPDATE: Reward offered for information on who killed puppies with hammer

Adopt-An-Angel, a local animal welfare organization, is offering a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person who killed two puppies in the Long Leaf Park area. This case remains under active investigation by the Wilmington Police Department.

Man apparently o.d.'s in men's room at Chick-Fil-A on Oleander

Sometime after 8:00 p.m. Friday, a customer went into the men’s room and found a man who had died of an apparent drug overdose.

Goolsby wants US 17 renamed to honor Marines at cost of $100k

Sen. Thom Goolsby has sponsored a bill in the state legislature to designate US 17 as US Marine Corps Highway. The bill calls for $100,000 of Department of Transportation funds be allocated to pay for signage for the road.

Seahawks lose regular season finale in Boston.... UNCW will face GSU in CAA first round

The UNC Wilmington men's basketball team didn't end the regular season on a good note. The lost to Hofstra on Wednesday at home. On Saturday they lost to Northeastern in Boston.

New Hanover, East Bladen, West Bladen and Pender are headed to Fayetteville in search of a berth in the state title game

Three more wins. That's all it will take in order to win a state championship for the teams still alive in the high school basketball state playoffs.
