A man has been sentenced to life in prison after admitting he stabbed a mother and daughter during a robbery last May in Roanoke Rapids.

More dead, injured pelicans along Topsail Beach

video It looks like it's happening once again. More dead and injured pelicans have washed ashore Topsail Beach. Deborah Woody, a volunteer with the Possumwood Acres Wildlife Santuary says in the past two weeks alone, there have been more than 20 dead and injured pelicans found along the beach.

STORMTRACK 3: Last weekend's storm produced record number of tornadoes

The Raleigh forecast office says meteorologists around the state have confirmed that at least 28 tornadoes touched down across the state on Saturday. The only other time where so many twisters landed in a single day was 1984, when about 22 tornadoes were confirmed.
