Investigators confirm one of several prostitutes found murdered in Long Island, New York is a native of Wilmington. The body of Amber Lynn Costello, 27, and bodies of three other women in their twenties were found along Ocean Parkway in December.

A local man who broke into an apartment last year and stabbed a man scheduled to testify against him pled no contest in court today. Justin Daniel McKeithan now is subject to being sentenced to 34 – 51 months in prison for assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and intimidating a state’s witness.

A resolution allowing a public market in the city's South 2nd Street parking lot on Sundays. A portion of the lot would be used for the market, and vendor fees would be established to help cover program costs and to pay for the use of the space in the lot occupied by the market. If successful, it is expected that the public market will be expanded to include other days of the week.

On Friday, April 1st, New Hanover County Vice and Narcotics detectives wrapped up a month long investigation and arrested one subject for numerous heroin trafficking charges. Detectives arrested Johmar Monte Galloway, after completing a vehicle stop at the intersection of 12th and Wright Street. Galloway was found in possession of 100 bags of heroin and was taken into custody.
