Debate on politically tinged legislation to cut North Carolina's early voting period by a week has been delayed
in the House. The chief sponsor of the House measure gave no reason on the floor why he asked that a final House vote scheduled for Monday night be delayed until Wednesday.

Day three of deliberations in a quadruple murder case in Columbus County and still no sentence. A jury took just a few hours May 5 to convict Danny Lamont Thomas of killing four people in Chadbourn in 2005 but their decision of how he should pay for the crimes is taking much longer.
