New Hanover County Commissioners are wrestling with a budget filled with cuts. But they may be guilty of not cutting back on their own spending. We requested recent travel expenses from several county commissioners who left the state on county business. The public records reveal $299 a night hotel stays, room service and golf gear.

Cari Blalock had a great freshman swimming season at Louisiana State University. She even broke a school record, but she's decided to leave LSU in order to transfer to UNC Chapel Hill.

The idea of annexation does not go over very well with folks who live just outside Southport. Many say it's unconstitutional, or that they can't afford the extra fees and taxes. However, those who live in the Woodside Trailer Park say they could be left without a place to live.

Drivers throughout our area have one common gripe: traffic. The roads between Wilmington and Leland are especially frustrating, but the state has some plans that could make the trip a little easier.

Tonight, neighbors of a New Hanover County boat ramp and the boaters who use it will discuss limiting the access from 24 hours a day to sunrise to sunset. Some people who make their living on the water say closing the Trails End Boat Ramp after dark would be detrimental.
