Besides a handful of national holidays, the typical American worker bee gets two or three precious weeks off out of a whole year to relax and see the world -- much less than what people in many other countries receive.

Some young archers from our area are shooting for a world championship. Over the weekend, the archery team at Roger Bacon Academy earned a spot in the National Archery in Schools Program world tournament this fall in Orlando.

Voters say they would be less likely to vote for a legislator in 2012 who voted for a tax increase. As the General Assembly finalizes the 2011-2012 budget proposal, a new poll released today by the Civitas Institute shows strong opposition to new taxes. The poll also found 75 percent of voters oppose a plan by Gov. Bev Perdue to raise taxes by $800 million.
