Annexation approved by Southport Aldermen

video After all the anticipation and public hearings on annexation, the time for a vote in Southport finally came. The Board of Aldermen passed the proposed annexation of Smithville Woods, Jabbertown Road and other areas north of Southport, but there may be a way to stop it.

Mideastern Confererence releases all-conference honors for spring sports

Rabies case confirmed in Brunswick County

The first case of rabies has been confirmed in Brunswick County for 2011. Today, a fox was attacked and killed by three dogs in the Supply area on Creekwood Court. The fox was sent to the State Lab in Raleigh for testing. The results came back positive for rabies.

Carolina Beach to reconsider road diet

Repairs underway on Battleship's hull
