Believe it !!! The Wilmington Sharks are in first place. The Sharks haven't made the playoffs since 2003, but that appears to be their destiny this summer.

Juneteenth is celebrated by many as the official end to slavery, although it happened more than two years after President Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation. On June 19, 1865, Union soldiers landed in Galveston, Texas and spread the news that slaves had been freed.

It's been nearly two weeks since 59-year-old Carol Ann Johnson was found dead in her home on Pine Valley Drive. Wilmington Police have been tight-lipped about the investigation, but family and friends received some closure Saturday at a funeral to honor Johnson’s life.
