New UNC interim football coach credits Leland resident for motivation

video Everett Withers was introduced as the interim head football coach at the University of North Carolina on Friday. At the news conference it took less than 30 seconds for Withers to credit a man who lives in Brunswick County. In fact Withers mentioned Mel Foels four times before he mentioned anyone else.

The Wilmington Hammerheads have to play back to back road games this weekend. The first game turned out to be a wet victory. The Hammerheads look to earn more points on Saturday in the Keystone state.

Tourism funds to pay to reverse Carolina Beach road diet

videoJust one year after putting North Lake Park Blvd. on a diet, Carolina Beach Town Council has decided to fatten the road because of traffic issues. Most town leaders, residents and visitors agree two lanes is not enough for the busy weekend traffic that sometimes means about 30,000 vehicles a day.

No NC schools adding classroom days
