Wilmington City Council member Laura Padgett requested to be reimbursed about $700 for a trip she took to Washington D.C. in March, but the city’s audit committee denied her request. Now Padgett is saying she doesn't think the committee handled it properly.

New Hanover County dispatch is confirming a fire at Alford Seafood at 5330 Carolina Beach Road. The call came in just before 10:00 tonight. Dispatch says firefighters saw heavy smoke when they arrived on the scene.

The mother of a Wilmington teen missing for two weeks has come to town looking for help finding him. Al'Quon Flowers, 18, went missing July 18, and family and friends say they still have no idea where he is or if he is even alive.
