The Wilmington Sharks haven't made the playoffs since 2003, but the playoff drought is now over. The Wilmington Sharks swept Morehead City on Monday night in a road doubleheader to clinch a playoff spot. The Sharks will host a playoff game on Thursday.

New Hanover County dispatch is confirming a fire at Alford Seafood at 5330 Carolina Beach Road. The call came in just before 10:00 tonight. Dispatch says firefighters saw heavy smoke when they arrived on the scene.

Months of tension, wrangling and political posturing may end Tuesday if Congress gives final approval to a compromise on the federal debt ceiling. The US House approved the bill Monday night. The Senate is expected to vote Tuesday. Meanwhile southeastern North Carolina's representatives in Congress are sounding off.

The mother of a Wilmington teen missing for two weeks has come to town looking for help finding him. Al'Quon Flowers, 18, went missing July 18, and family and friends say they still have no idea where he is or if he is even alive.
