Burgaw Ponytails honored for Dixie World Series win

A Pender County softball team is honored for their Dixie Youth World Series title Monday night in Burgaw. The Burgaw Ponytails captured the Dixie Youth World Series title last week in Louisiana. Burgaw beat Florida 2-1 in the championship game.

Arson believed to be caused by person who used pass key to enter building

A report from Asheville police says investigators believe the person who started a blaze that killed a firefighter used a pass key to get inside the medical office building where it started.

McIntyre: Focus should be local, not on Washington in wake of credit downgrade

We caught up with Rep. Mike McIntyre today in Brunswick Ccounty and asked him for his thoughts about Standard & Poor's downgrade of America's credit rating. The congressman says southeastern North Carolina cannot focus on the debate in Washington, but rather should focus our attention here locally to boost our own economy.
