We have confirmed with two independent sources that Leland Police Chief Timothy Jayne recently punched one of his officers during a bachelor party in Myrtle Beach. The sources, who wish to remain anonymous, tell us Jayne slugged Officer John Holman and that other officers had to pull him off. Myrtle Beach Police were not called in to investigate.

North Carolina is one of the last states in the Southeast without a constitutional amendment making it clear that marriage is only legal between a woman and a man. That all might change come May after the North Carolina General Assembly recently agreed to put an amendment banning gay marriage on next year's ballot.

Brunswick county man pleads guilty to statutory rape. The District Attorney's office says 22-year-old Joshua Benjamin Higgins of Southport pleaded guilty to two counts of statutory rape for incidents that occurred with a 13-year-old girl in 2009.
