Seafood Blues and Jazz festival is a hit

Locals and visitors are making their way to Pleasure Island this weekend for the annual Seafood Blues and Jazz Festival. This year the festival welcomed iconic, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Gregg Allman to the stage. The great food and music attracted a sold out audience this year, and people seemed very satisfied.

Heart Walk has many benefits

The Cape Fear Heart Walk took place Saturday at University of North Carolina Wilmington. The walk is an annual fundraiser benefiting the American Heart Association in the Cape Fear region.

Model railroad show is fun for everyone

The Wilmington Railroad Museum hosts a Model Railroad Extravaganza this weekend. Miniature trains and landscapes fill an entire room of the museum. Guests can watch the model trains chug by, or even conduct these engines themselves.

Bufffalo adds Jay Ross to active roster

Wilmington resident Jay Ross has been called up from the practice roster to the active roster of the Buffalo Bills. The New Hanover High graduate will be eligible to play in Sunday's game against the Arizona Cardinals. Ross has yet to play in a regular season NFL game.

REMINDER: Cape Fear Memorial Bridge closed until 5 a.m. Monday

You've probably heard by now, but it's worth saying again: The Cape Fear Memorial Bridge is closed all weekend. It is scheduled to reopen Monday at 5 a.m.

Redistricting might confuse some voters

Tens of thousands of voters in New Hanover and Pender counties may be surprised when they see their ballots this year and find that they no longer reside in the 7th Congressional District, where Mike McIntyre, a Lumberton Democrat, has been the congressman for 16 years.

Suspect in Wilmington murder arrested

Wilmington Police have arrested a man for a murder earlier this week. Investigators say Timothy Wayne Chinn, 43, was stabbed to death at a home in the 3600 block of Metting Road early Tuesday morning.

Two stabbed Friday night in Brunswick Co.; Four arrested

Four people are behind bars after two people were stabbed Friday night in Brunswick County, including a teenager. Deputies were dispatched around 10:16 p.m. to 2157 Linda K. TR SW in Supply. When deputies arrived they found two people who had been stabbed.
