Sanderson Farms says it won't build a chicken processing operation in southern Nash County.
The company said on its website Tuesday that the decision was made in collaboration with Nash County officials and is a result of "various timing issues," which company officials wouldn't discuss. The statement said the decision will not affect the timing of its next poultry complex.

Family and friends paid final respects today to a distinguished World War II veteran. Morton Salk of Wilmington died Saturday. He was 93.
