CFPUA Operations crews have responded to and stopped a wastewater spill in the Country Haven area adjacent to the 8000 block of Market Street. At approximately 7:45 a.m. today, CFPUA staff discovered the spill while visiting the site to conduct routine maintenance. The CFPUA crew took action to stop the flow from the pipe, which appears to have been previously damaged.

A one-year-old Quarter horse colt that died in Brunswick County was confirmed as the 19th Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) positive horse in North Carolina for 2012 according to county health officials. North Carolina has experienced an active West Nile virus (WNV) and Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) activity this year.
