Securing financing for a proposed baseball stadium will no longer fall on Wilmington's shoulders. Today, the Atlanta Braves and Mandalay Baseball Properties announced the ballpark would be financed and constructed privately. Even so, it will still require an uncertain amount of taxpayer dollars. A judge today sentenced Jonathan Lee Thompson, 52, to ten years and five months in prison followed by three years supervised release. Thompson must also pay more than $8,000 in restitution.
