It's hard to believe that 100 years ago this weekend, the Titanic sunk in the cold waters of the Atlantic. An autistic Wilmington man is commemorating the event with art, and says his disability is the last thing on his mind.

WWAY's Thursday night sports previewed the Jordan Brand Classic high school basketball all-star games in Charlotte on Saturday. We also previewed the Azalea Festival’s amateur boxing tournament that will take place on Saturday and Sunday in Wilmington. We checked out high school track & field and lacrosse action, as well.

The debate on whether to ban smoking continued tonight at the Wrightsville Beach Board of Aldermen meeting. Supporters of the ban got one step closer to reaching their dream of a butt free beach. A group supporting the smoking ban presented the board with a stack of signed petitions.

One of the Azalea Festival's celebrities is making a bit of a homecoming this week. Ashley Spivey, famous for her role on ABC's 'The Bachelor', is a UNCW graduate.

With the number of construction projects going on in our area, orange barrels have become a part of the everyday scenery. From bridge repairs to resurfacing roads, there's a lot of work going on right now. One big project that's halfway done is expected to relieve congestion between Wilmington and Leland.

A group of protestors rallied near the airport this afternoon as advocates of the animals at the circus. They say the animals involved in the circus this weekend are constantly abused and mistreated. They want people to know that cruelty is not entertainment.

"I love Wilmington," Queen Azalea Ericka Dunlap said. "I'm going to make it my second home."
Dunlap was Miss America 2004 and a contestant on "The Amazing Race." Her reign and her game took her all over the world, but she says nothing compares to her reign over the Azalea Festival.

Although a smoking ban in Wrightsville Beach was snuffed out a month ago, the fight is not over yet.
Supporters of the ban say they are sick of butts on the beach, so they found a loophole in town law to revive their cause.
