video On Tuesday we featured highlights from UNCW's impressive 10-1 win over the 24th ranked East Carolina Pirates from Greenville. We also checked out high school baseball action from New Bern. The Bears beat Laney. We also featured Ashley's win over Hoggard in baseball along with two softball games from Wilmington.

City hires ballpark project manager, councilmembers say Ripken was the wrong choice

video Wilmington City Council voted to hire National Sports Services, a company based out of Kansas, as their project manager for the proposed ballpark. Council members said Ripken Design, who the city was originally looking to hire, may have had a conflict of interest with Mandalay Baseball Properties.

FIRST ON 3: Police look for driver who ran over camper at Carolina Beach

video Police in Carolina Beach are looking for a driver who ran over a camper early Sunday morning at Freeman Park. "He was asleep in his tent about 2:30 in the morning and awakened by someone driving over him in his tent," Carolina Beach Police Det. Harry Humphries said.

UPDATE: Pine Valley fire contained

video The Wilmington Fire Department says the brush fire at 17th street between Independence Blvd. and George Anderson Dr. is now contained. This does not mean that the fire is extinguished and crews are still concerned about possible hot spots and unburned fuel in the fire area.
