Wilmington City Council voted to hire National Sports Services, a company based out of Kansas, as their project manager for the proposed ballpark. Council members said Ripken Design, who the city was originally looking to hire, may have had a conflict of interest with Mandalay Baseball Properties. Full story...

Police in Carolina Beach are looking for a driver who ran over a camper early Sunday morning at Freeman Park. "He was asleep in his tent about 2:30 in the morning and awakened by someone driving over him in his tent," Carolina Beach Police Det. Harry Humphries said. Full story...

The Wilmington Fire Department says the brush fire at 17th street between Independence Blvd. and George Anderson Dr. is now contained. This does not mean that the fire is extinguished and crews are still concerned about possible hot spots and unburned fuel in the fire area. Full story...

A scary field trip for students in Brunswick County, when their activity bus caught fire on the way back to school. It happened this afternoon near NC 87 and Funston Road. Forty people from Leland Middle School were on the activity bus. Full story...
