Friday night’s sports segment featured high school baseball action from all over the region. We checked out Hoggard versus Greenville Rose, as well as New Hanover against Laney. We even had a grand slam in softball action from Rocky Point, where Trask squared off against Union.

Our local economy is getting a big boost. Australian airline Qantas has placed a $2 billion order with the GE Aviation Plant in Castle Hayne.

Students found a gun on a South Columbus High School bus this morning.
According to Columbus County Sheriff Chris Batten, four students were riding the bus near Tabor City, when one student told the bus driver that a gun was on a seat.

A Pender County woman says her pet monkey was killed in cold blood and didn't need to die.
Pender County Animal Control euthanized the monkey after it bit a woman. Now, its owner is searching for answers.
