Week number three of the high school football season is in the books. The cream is starting to rise to the top as New Hanover, Hoggard and South Columbus are starting to emerge from the pack in our neck of the woods as those three teams remain undefeated.

As November nears, the New Hanover County Board of Elections discussed issues at polling places Friday. You may remember the sign in May when the Devon Methodist Church, which was a polling place, had a sign that proclaimed, "A true marriage is male and female and God."

Matthew Hunt has set out to raise funds for a September 11 memorial that he says has been overlooked. Hunt is driving across the country on a campaign called I-40 for 40, in an effort to raise funds for the Flight 93 National Memorial.
