New Hanover County Commissioners talked trash again today. They discussed a contract with Covanta Energy to refurbish the county's trash incinerator.
At a cost to the county of about $32 million, Covanta is proposing a 20-year commitment to re-furbish and run what was formerly known as WASTEC.

A Fairmont man is in jail charged with assaulting and injuring a Bladen County Sheriff's deputy yesterday. The Sheriff's Office says Dep. Kenny Simmons broke his shoulder in four places and will require surgery.

The Wilmington Regional Film Commission says another production is shooting in Wilmington. "Witches Of East End," starring Julia Ormond, is a new pilot for Lifetime produced by Fox 21. Production offices are opening this week with the 10-day shoot scheduled for mid-October.
