A commercial fisherman has died after getting caught in a reel of nets on his boat in Brunswick County. Wildlife officers say Jeremy Blair Myers, 34, of Wilmington, put out from Southport today and was fishing for menhaden and sea mullet when it happened. Full story...

On Friday night WWAY provided extensive coverage from the Laney Sports Hall of Fame ceremony. The hall grew by seven. Friday was also a special night at New Hanover High School. The 2012 state champion Wildcat basketball team was honored prior to the New Hanover-New Bern game. Friday also featured a game in Leland that was marred by fan misconduct.
