This weekend, hundreds of people filled the United Church of Christ, a historic location for Wilmington 10 members. The surviving members, families of deceased members of the Wilmington 10, along with supporters across the state celebrated a victory over what they say was a racially charged and wrongful conviction. A commercial fisherman has died after getting caught in a reel of nets on his boat in Brunswick County. Wildlife officers say Jeremy Blair Myers, 34, of Wilmington, put out from Southport today and was fishing for menhaden and sea mullet when it happened. Full story...

On Friday night WWAY provided extensive coverage from the Laney Sports Hall of Fame ceremony. The hall grew by seven. Friday was also a special night at New Hanover High School. The 2012 state champion Wildcat basketball team was honored prior to the New Hanover-New Bern game. Friday also featured a game in Leland that was marred by fan misconduct. It was a close Waccamaw Conference game between North Brunswick and Whiteville, when a hard foul changed the atmosphere of the crowd in Leland. Chaos erupted. Fans had to leave in order for the basketball game to be completed. Full story...
