videoThe East Columbus girls basketball team won three state playoff games last week, but the season came to a crashing halt for the Gators on Tuesday night in state playoff regional play. The UNCW baseball team has had more close games this season than normal. Unfortunately the Seahawks gave up three runs in the ninth inning on the road on Tuesday. Plus more!

video According to one student, she's one of the nicest teachers in his school. So nice, she always takes the time to come visit with him at lunch. We headed out to Castle Hayne Elementary with Tim Buckley for this week's teacher of the week.

FIRST ON 3: Beach homeowner insurance going up almost 20%

video Insurance Commissioner Wayne Goodwin signed a settlement agreement today with homeowners insurance companies allowing an overall statewide average rate increase of 7 percent on July 1. The rate for the Brunswick, New Hanover and Pender county beaches though is going up almost 20 percent.

Wilmington City Council approves funding to improve Riverfront Park

videoTonight Wilmington City Council decided to spend more than a half-million dollars to fix up Riverfront Park. The master plan will extend from Market Street through where the Coast Guard Cutter Diligence is docked.

NC bill would end illegal immigrants' enrollment

NC commissions bill heads to conference committee

Senate Republicans have rejected a House version of their bill to clear out dozens of current members of North Carolina regulatory boards and commissions. Now a special committee will meet to attempt to work out differences.

Leland holds public meeting on sign ordinance

video The Town of Leland held a joint meeting of the town council and the planning board to seek public opinion on the towns sign ordinance. Business owners were out in force to speak out against the new rules, which size signs based upon a business’s zoning.

Motorcyclist killed while pulling out of own driveway

video A motorcyclist was killed after colliding with a semi-truck. Highway Patrol says the victim is Rodney Shyron Robinson, 44. They say Robinson was leaving his driveway at 4915 Natmore Road when he pulled into the path of a semi-truck. Robinson was pronounced dead at the scene.
