videoThe high school football season is here. Despite the rain the BB&T Jamboree was played as scheduled at Legion Stadium in Wilmington on Friday night. Check out the first 5th Quarter of 2013. In baseball Wilmington Post 10 won their opening game at the American Legion World Series. Post 10 will face Louisiana on Saturday in a winner's bracket contest.

FIRST ON 3: City of Wilmington stops funding 'Bring It! Downtown'

videoThe City of Wilmington will no longer fund the "Bring It! Downtown" initiative. In an email sent Thursday, city spokesman Dylan Lee says the Downtown Business Alliance, Wilmington Downtown Inc. and the city couldn't come to a consensus on a letter of agreement.

State suing Sutton Electric Plant/Duke Energy

The state has filed two lawsuits for injunctive relief against Duke Energy Progress Inc. and Duke Energy Carolinas, LLC for claims related to the discharge of wastewater from the utility’s North Carolina coal ash impoundments that were not included in the state’s earlier legal actions.

Pender Co. teacher drowned while paddleboarding

videoA Pender County teacher drowned earlier this week. The Sheriff's Office says the family of Amanda Perkins reported her missing early Thursday morning after she did not come home from paddleboarding along a creek off the Intracoastal Waterway near Hampstead.
