videoLess dunks than normal, but WWAY still attended the MLK Jamfest on Monday at Union High School in Sampson County. The event featured seven different basketball games on the same court on a day where students didn't have to attend school. In college men's hoops Cape Fear Community College and NC State both won, but the UNC Tar Heels did not. Plus more!

Six arrested at vigil for man who died in police car

Police in North Carolina arrested six people following a vigil for a teenager who died of a gunshot wound while handcuffed in the back of a police car. More than 100 people marched through downtown Durham Sunday night in protest of the Nov. 19 death of 17-year-old Jesus Huerta of what an autopsy determined was a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Amazon shoppers in NC to pay sales tax

Online retailer Amazon says it will begin charging sales taxes on purchase made in North Carolina starting Feb. 1. Amazon sued the N.C. Department of Revenue in 2010 to block efforts to obtain names and addresses of North Carolina residents who bought items from the company.
