Rowan County student accused of posting nude photo

Authorities have arrested a 17-year-old Rowan County high school student who they say created an Instagram account and posted a nude photo of a 15-year-old girl on the social media site. The Rowan County Sheriff's Office said Juan Bautista is charged with cyberbullying. He and the victim are students at West Rowan High School.

Few primary challenges for area legislators

If you head to the polls in southeastern North Carolina this spring for primary elections, there's a good chance you won't see races for the General Assembly on your ballot. There are three senate districts and seven house districts that cover Bladen, Brunswick, Columbus, New Hanover and Pender counties. But of those 10 districts, only three will have a primary May 6.
