Post 10 bows out of state tournament; Wilmington Sharks lose 6th straight

videoThe attempt to win three state championships in a row in American Legion baseball is now over for Wilmington Post 10. Scott Sandlin's squad lost on Monday night in Lexington at the state tournament. It wasn't a season ender, but the Wilmington Sharks also lost on Monday.

NC gay marriage ban faces uncertain future

Workshop helping Ashley faculty, administration move forward

Teachers were back at Ashley High School today having a meeting about the upcoming school year and how to make Ashley better. This comes on the heels of surveys where teachers expressed their dissatisfaction with the school's administration.

Fundraiser benefits foundation dedicated to murdered college student

videoFolks gathered at the Fortunate Glass to downtown Wilmington tonight to raise money for Journey4Josh. The organization was founded in memory of Josh Proutey, 19, who was murdered by four people during a robbery downtown in December 2012.

DA: Gangs connect to traffic heroin in Wilmington

Investigators said they found out the United Blood Nation gang from New Jersey had connected with Wilmington members. Investigators watched the suspects and then bought heroin from them at the Days Inn Motel on Market Street. That's how investigators were able to get a warrant to search the rooms the suspects had rented. There they found 2,718 glassine bags of heroin and arrested eight suspects for several drug felonies.

Pender County man pleads guilty in methamphetamine case

A Hampstead man plead guilty today in Pender County Superior Court. Jeffrey Brown, 37, plead guilty to conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine and manufacturing methamphetamine using a clandestine lab.

Three teens charged in Durham bus explosion

Three teens have been arrested after an explosion on a city bus in Durham last week. No one was hurt when what police called a "Draino bomb" exploded on a bus July 22.

Duke agrees to $1.2B deal with ElectriCities

Duke Energy Progress has agreed to purchase the generating capacity of ElectriCities in a $1.2 billion deal expected to translate into lower power bills for thousands of eastern North Carolina residents.
