Are you satisfied with the new state budget?

Education is going down

I agree we need a balanced state budget. However, when balancing the budget comes at the expense of our children's education that is a serious problem. The effects of this will begin to be seen in the coming school year and for some time following to come. We have to make sure no matter what education is funded 100% and then make cuts in other areas as needed. Gov. Perdue has gotten this one right but had she made better decisions in the past maybe things would have been different. I am still really upset she used lottery funds to balance a previous state budget. The lottery for approved to help with education not balance other areas of state governement.

Don't

depend on teh government to educate your kids! I will vote against any and every tax or bond that is for public education. I fully support being able to not have 1 penny of my tax $ go to public education since my children do not attend government schools.

I think the cuts go too

I think the cuts go too deep, however our infamous Governor will find a way to divert the money so she can waste it like she has done since she has been in office. If her and "slick" Easley had not wasted so much money, the cuts would not be necessary today. Building a $25,000,000 pier at Nags Head was just one of the wastes. This was approved last year by this Governor and the Democrats. She doesn't have the common sense to be Governor. All the Democrats don't even have confidence in her. Five of them helped override her Veto of the Budget. This Governor has to go. She would do the citizens of North Carolina justice if she would just resign and go back to processing chickens. I'm not even sure she has the brain power to do that. The Republicans need to do something to help education, Home Care and Mental Health. The children and these physical and mentally challenged citizens cannot help themselves. Beverly Perdue and DHHS Secretary Cansler need to leave North Carolina immediately;not wait for the elections. They are hurting too many people by staying here.

Budget

It appears the state of NC is finally realizing that the tax and spend policies of Gov. Perdue are over. It will not be easy to accept the corrections that need to be made in order for the state to move forward, but in time, the it will be realized that the right thing has been done.
