A tropical storm warning for most of our area has been lifted as Tropical Storm Cristobal continues to move up the coast. The warning continues north of Surf City to the North Carolina-Virginia border.

At 11 a.m. the National Hurricane Center said Cristobal was located about 15 miles east-southeast of Cape Lookout and about 70 miles southwest of Cape Hatteras. Maximum sustained winds were about 50 mph with little change expected in the next couple of days.

Forecasters said Cristobal is moving northeast near 7 mph. They expect that track to continue for the next couple of days as it picks up forward speed and moves away from North Carolina Monday.
