WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Imagine a world full of art that you could stick in your pocket and carry with you. Well, the World of Miniatures is now a reality at Port City Pottery and Fine Crafts in the Cotton Exchange.
The gallery is a co-op of artists, who got together and decided to do a mini-theme to start the new year. Almost 20 artists are represented in the mini-world.
One of the artists, Iris Simmons, said making mini replicas was challenging but rewarding.
"It's really simply an exquisite display of miniature items, because the artists are accustomed to making larger, we artists are accustomed to making larger pieces," Simmons said. "It was fun. It was wonderful to do something that was small and miniature. It's different."
Simmons said customers and miniature collectors love the little art.
You can visit the world of miniatures throughout January. The pint-size pieces are for sale and will remain in the gallery until they are sold.
