Asheville paper combines sections, moves printing

READ MORE:
ASHEVILLE -- The Asheville Citizen-Times has cut and condensed some sections of the newspaper as it deals with declining advertising revenue. Citizen-Times Publisher Randy Hammer said Monday a drop in ad sales led to the decision to combine sections on some days and eliminate the classified section on Mondays and Tuesdays. The newspaper has also closed its Asheville printing facility. About 60 jobs were eliminated after the facility printed its last edition Saturday. The newspaper will now be printed at The Greenville News in South Carolina, also a newspaper owned by Gannett Co. Hammer said many printing employees were offered and accepted jobs in Greenville.
