Authorities: Jail inmate hangs himself in cell

ASHEVILLE -- Authorities say a man facing a habitual impaired driving charge hanged himself inside his jail cell. The Buncombe County Sheriff's Office said in a press release that a jailer making supervision rounds found 29-year-old Brandon Carl Chandler hanging from a sheet around 4 p.m. Tuesday. Officers at the Buncombe County Detention Facility immediately began CPR, according to the press release. Chandler was then taken to Mission Hospital and died a short time later.
