Baby injured in Thursday accident, man dies from Wednesday accident

It has been a bad couple of days for traffic incidents in the city of Wilmington. An 18-month-old was taken to Chapel Hill, for injuries suffered in a crash Thursday morning at the corner of Third and Meares streets. The baby's mom, Heather Wilson, was going through the intersection, when her car was hit by a pick-up truck. The baby was in a child safety seat in the back seat. The drivers of both vehicles are okay. So far, no charges have been filed. Thirty-two-year-old Ronny Ballard has died after a crash between an ATV and an 18-wheeler. It happened just after 1:00 a.m. Wednesday, at Shipyard and Carolina Beach Road. Ballard was driving the ATV when he was hit. The investigation is ongoing. ATV's are not allowed on public roads.
