Back to School Fest at Williston Middle School

It is not time to head back to school yet, but it will be here before you know it. The playground across from Williston Middle School in Wilmington served as the site for a Back to School Summer Fest Saturday afternoon. The Port City Connection softball team along with the End Zone Bar sponsored the event, which centered around a school supply giveaway. Children received free book bags, notebooks and crayons thanks to a handful of generous donors. "We're going to try to do it again next year. We did this in such a little time and it turned out to be fabulous," said April Williams of Port City Connection. Free food and an opportunity to jump for free on the jumpy jump brought out a lot of the children, but DJ Hootie had everyone dancing to the beat on a hot Saturday afternoon.

Why do they get everything handed to them?

I can't understand why these people are catered to. They can afford the most expensive tennis shoes out there, but can't seem to get crayons and paper for their kids? Maybe its just me, but if people had their priorities straight, then the children would not need a free hand out. Here we are, starting them at a young age thinking that they can get things for free. So sad.

These people

So I am assuming if this was held at ECHO Farms it would be okay. Why is everytime something is done people like you come out with the negative thoughts.I guess it will be okay next year when they do this event since ECHO FARM kids will be attending school at Williston.Find something better to do.
