WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- A two-story barn went up in smoke early Saturday morning in Wilmington. The fire happened on Sykes Street off St. Andrews Drive near Carolina Beach Road, around 7:45 am.
Crews worked to tame the fire quickly because they were not sure if someone was inside. Fortunately the building was vacant. Firefighters manages to get the blaze under control quickly.
"It was fully involved when we got here," said Incident Commander Phil Bothwell of the Wilmington Fire Department. "So we caught a line and just had to surround it and we're putting a lot of water on it so we don't have to come back later."
the cause of the fire is still under investigation
