Libertarian presidential candidate to visit NC

DURHAM (AP) - Libertarian Party candidate for president Bob Barr will visit North Carolina next week. The former Georgia congressman will visit two Triangle universities Tuesday.

Party gubernatorial candidate Mike Munger says Barr is slated to speak at Duke University followed by a visit to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. This will be Barr's first appearance in the state since attending the Libertarian state convention in May.

Barr built a national following in the 1990s while a Republican congressman for his pursuit of President Clinton's impeachment. Barr has been polling at 1 or 2 percent of the vote nationwide, which could be enough to change the outcome of the race in some battleground states.
