Beach Music Festival back on beach with cheaper tickets

The Pleasure Island Beach Music Festival is back for its 24th year this weekend. This year it's back on the beach and more affordable. Ticket prices have been cut in half to ten dollars for advance tickets. Beer is just a dollar.

The action starts Friday night with a shag contest starting at 8. Then Saturday is full of beach music with five bands starting at 10:30 a.m.

Organizers say the revitalization of the Carolina Beach Boardwalk only adds to the event.

"The boardwalk is completely exciting and juiced up now for everybody's attention," Pleasure Island Chamber of Commerce Chair Bruce Holsten said. "But most importantly, I just think Pleasure Island always represents a great destination, and weather permitting, we should have three or four-thousand people out on the beach."

The show goes on rain or shine. For more information, including how to get tickets, visit
