Bettie Fennell to run for North Carolina Senate

Republican Bettie Fennell is throwing her hat back in the ring for the North Carolina Senate. Last year Fennell and Senator RC Soles ran a heated race for the 8th district seat, representing Pender, Brunswick and Columbus counties. Senator Soles is the longest serving member of the North Carolina legislature. With the census and redistricting scheduled for the next Senate term, Fennel said she plans to run a focused campaign. “We're going to focus more on the issues,” she said. “I think that's the big concern now, not so much personalities or how long my opponent has been in the General Assembly, but on the issues.” Fennell said she will focus on taxes, jobs and the economy in her upcoming campaign. Fennell decided to announce her candidacy more than a year before the election because of questions and encouragement from the community.

Ms. Fennell

Here's your chance to do abetter job. Why not start now with a focus on the issues and how you would address them? These are issues which won't be solved overnight. Why wait to begin putting forth your solutions? These need to be mentioned and repeated often. At the same time, perhaps you can discuss how you will bring funding to the district comparable to that which Senator Soles has brought forth? There's no time like the present. Or, wait until after the R C Soles circus plays out and appear to be an oportunist. Your choice.

It is nice to see Mrs. Fennell is changing her focus to the "issues". What were you focusing on last time? Quite frankly, I question your professionalism based on last campaign. The tactics you deployed were vindictive, arrogant and like I said unprofessional. Personally, I doubt I vote for you or Senator Soles. I hope someone "electable" runs against both yourself and Senator Soles.
